About Claude

Claude is a general-purpose AI assistant made by Anthropic. You ask it questions in plain language, upload documents, spreadsheets or images, and it replies with drafts, summaries, analysis or working code. It can search the web for current information, create and edit files such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, run code, and connect to the apps you already use.

Anthropic offers several model sizes. As at October 2026 the lineup is Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 4.5. The Free plan uses Sonnet and Haiku, and paid plans add the larger models. Projects keep instructions, files and chats together for ongoing work, and Skills let you teach Claude a routine and share it with your team.

Paid plans include Claude Code, a coding agent, and extensions for Chrome and Microsoft 365. Team and Enterprise plans add shared projects, single sign-on and admin controls for organisations.

Our take

Good for
writing, analysis and coding with long documents.
Skip it if
you want image generation built in, or heavy daily use on a free plan.
The catch
paid plans cap usage in rolling windows, so heavy users can hit limits and need a higher tier.

Checked . Plans and limits change, so confirm them on the vendor's site before you buy.
