About Google AI Studio

Google AI Studio is a browser-based workspace for working with Google's Gemini models. In the Playground you try prompts, set system instructions, adjust model settings, and switch on features such as structured output, function calling, code execution and grounding. A Get code option exports your work to the Gemini API in your preferred programming language, and you can create and manage API keys from the same place.

Studio also has a Build area where you can create apps, keep them under My apps and browse examples in a Gallery, and a Dashboard for tracking usage.

The Gemini API has a free tier with limited access to some models. Paid usage is billed per million tokens and adds higher rate limits, context caching and a Batch API at a lower cost. Google says content sent on the free tier may be used to improve its products and content on paid usage is not, so check which tier you are on before you use business information.

Our take

Good for
trying Gemini models, prototyping apps and getting an API key.
Skip it if
you would put customer data through the free tier.
The catch
Google's pricing page says free-tier use can improve its products and paid use cannot, and free limits change, so use a paid project for anything sensitive.

Checked . Plans and limits change, so confirm them on the vendor's site before you buy.
